tjv,
looks good. i added about a pound and a half of shrimp to mine at heatup, the stuff went fast, especially since i think noone ever had it before. mine turned a little green from maybe too much okra, maybe cut that back a little and find some fresh stuff instead of frozen for next time.
fukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it -
tjv,[p] Can anyone explain the difference between fryers and hens? Is it a dryness or tenderness issue or just a size thing? If so is a hen smaller than a fryer? Or vice-versa?[p]I've never been quite sure about that one...

SuperDave,
I think a stewing hen will be 7-8 pounds and older and tougher? Fryers are 3-4 pounds and younger? Something like that...[p]TNW
The Naked Whiz -
tjv,[p]That is some good looking gumbo. Got any left?[p]Mike

The Naked Whiz,
lots tougher, you have to let an old hen simmer for a long while to get it to the point where you can do anything with the meat. But a lot of people swear you get a better flavor for soups and stews from hens.
