Anyone got a recipe for spanish bean soup?.....

A local caribbean/Cuban restaurant just opened here and the soup has garbanzo beans, smoked hame, chorizo,onion, potatoes, and saffron in it.....would love to get a recipe for it......

    sounds like you already have your recipe. .. start mixing those ingredients, and tasting and testing with a little more of this, a little more of that ... i'm always trying to replicate restaurant recipes sometimes with very good success, like my hong kong sea bass which i copied directly from a restaurant here ... .also, if you ask the people at the restaurant, often times they will tell you all the ingredients (maybe not the exact quantities though) ....

    GenesGrill,[p]Spanish Bean Soup[p]Portions: 4-6[p]Ingredients:
    2 cans garbanzo beans, rinsed
    1 ham bone
    2 quarts low-sodium vegetable or chicken broth (or water)
    4 oz diced salt pork (or bacon)
    1 tsp spanish smoked paprika
    1 diced onion
    1 lb quartered potatoes
    1 pinch saffron
    1 Chorizo (Spanish sausage)[p]Instructions:
    In soup pot add rinsed beans, ham bone, 2 quarts vegetable broth. Simmer 30 min.
    Fry diced salt pork, add onion and paprika. Add to the beans and broth. Add quartered or diced potatoes, saffron, and sliced Chorizon. When potatoes are done remove from fire. Season with salt & pepper to taste.

    change the sausage to fresh chourico and add some kale and you have portuguese kale soup. grew up on the stuff. always have ham bones in the freezer ready to make some
