We’re feeling pretty super, how about you? The big game is fast approaching, and while we love football, we love an excuse to invite people over and cook even more! You too can cook like a champion with recipes from Dr. BBQ’s NFL Gameday Cookbook: Grilled Tuna Sandwiches from Seattle and Baked Brie from New England. Who’s going to win? You’ll have to cook both to find out.

Having trouble getting the egg to come up to 700+ for searing my seaks. Had no trouble in the past. Currently egg will not go much above 500+. QUESTION: Do I have a problem with my Temp Gage or do I need to clean out my egg and have a vent problem. I had plenty of Big Green Egg lump and the fire was glowing all around. Any suggestions?

  • 700+ is all about airflow. My guess is that your lump is too compacted in the firebox to allow free airflow. That happens when you get too many chips and small pieces dumped in along with the good size pieces. Break it down, clean up all the old ash, and hand select your lump for your next 700+. Only put in medium to large chunks. You can burn the chips in your next low-n-slow.
