What a day! A beautiful, crisp day down here in Augusta, GA with my folks. In the midst of doing some Christmas decorating, my dad and I threw on 3 racks of baby backs.[p]Here they are prepped with yellow mustard, turbinado, and Dizzy Dust:[p]12-2ribsprepped.jpg[p]And while getting the Egg fired up, I stumbled upon this close encounter of the 3rd kind (take me to your leader):[p]beammeupegg.jpg[p]The smoke is a risin':[p]daisysmoke1.jpg[p]Making a run at being man's new best friend (do you ever "pet" your Egg? okay, forget I asked that):[p]mansbestfriend.jpg[p]What would Eggin' be without a fire in the fire pit?[p]firepitclose.jpg[p]And what a beautiful moon tonight:[p]12-2moon1-1.jpg[p]After 5.5 hours at 250, raising to 300 and saucing during the last hour:[p]12-2ribsonegg.jpg[p]Ready to slice:[p]12-2ribsdone1.jpg[p]Trying to be artistic with pork:[p]12-2ribsdone2.jpg[p]Yummy:[p]12-2ribsdone3.jpg[p]Moist and delicious:[p]12-2ribssliced2.jpg[p]Plated with some of my dad's fabulous slaw:[p]12-2ribsplated.jpg[p]The boneyard - pork carnage:[p]12-2ribscarnage.jpg[p]TRex Sr. cappin' the night off with an Ashton and Dalmore single malt:[p]12-2TRexSr.jpg[p]Yeah, we did some decorating too:[p]12-2treelights.jpg[p]Cheers and Happy Holidays!![p]TRex[p]

    TRex,
Sounds like a great day. That second picture is awesome.

  • TRex,
Why does that second pic remind of "Raiders of The Lost Ark"?
I keep seeing a little TRex with a staff getting ready to poke a big ribeye.
    Sweet.[p]Mike

Car Wash Mike,[p]Yeah it was kind of like those moments in (insert your favorite archeological adventure here) where they get all of the mirrors and special gym stones set just right and then at just the right time a beam of sunlight comes through and bounces off the lenses and then opens a secret cavern or something.[p]Of course that didn't happen in my case. I think maybe I needed like an aluminum drip pan or something in the Egg to bounce the beam back or something.[p]Hee![p]TRex

Thanks Clay. That one is my favorite too - it was one of those moments when you see something and you're like, "THAT I've got to get a picture of."[p]Cheers,[p]TRex

Don't fly away on us, Larry. This cool spell makes for some good Eggin' weather, don't ya think?[p]Didn't see you in Publix or Harvards this trip - was beginning to wonder if you were out of town or something - lol.[p]Cheers,[p]Jason

Woo,[p]I'm still using my old Fuji Finepix S5100 - not an SLR but it comes with a on-board 10X zoom (which I used for the moon shot, on shutter priority mode) and also has a great macro mode - I've been pretty pleased with the overall quality and capabilities - only real problem I have with it now is that 1) it's only 4 mpix, and I'd like to start getting some larger prints made, and 2) I think I'm ready to start investing in some good glass.[p]So, sometime hopefully in the next few months I'm planning on getting my first SLR - believe it or not I've been researching and shopping around for several months now, but haven't pulled the trigger yet. I think the fact that I'm about to resign from my job and don't have a new one lined up yet is making me hesitate to drop the cash . . . so for now I'll be content with the Fuji.[p]Happy Sunday,[p]Jason

TRex, I'm off North Bel Air Road in Northwood.
Are you from this area originally? I've been here 20 years(whew, thats a long time)and really enjoy the area and the overall weather, although, the summer humidity can cause one to think about moving. LOL
