Breaks my heart to shut down my Egg when it's just the perfect temp for......SOMETHING! Makes me want to run through the neighborhood and ask people if they want to cook something...ANYTHING... on it! Anyone relate? Man...that WAS a good bottle of wine.......closing vent and damper.......thinks me will.....*cry*[p]

bbqdiva,[p]It has happened.[p]Couple of chicken breasts, coated with rub or been sittin' in Italian Salad dressing, go on at the close of active Egging.[p]You've just GOT to remember (after the wine an all) to take 'em out (use your Thermapen!)and put them in the fridge for tomorrow's salad, or sliced for sammies, or . . .[p]Great way to prep an Egged centerpiece for meals for another day.[p]Cry not! Rejoice!!! . . . and take another sip [p]DD

cook the meat,

DON'T show one of your fabulous sandwiches![p]It's well past dinner time and my sweet baboo is late coming home....[p]I'm working on my second layer of stomach lining....[p]OTOH, can you cook bread on a shutting down Egg? Or do you need to maintain a certain temp and monitor it, well, as if you had not been drinking wine with dinner?[p]DD
-
Heya DobieDad,[p]Errrrrr............. did you say wine with dinner...am I suppose to have dinner with that?[p][p]eeeeerrrrr. .....regards[p]thediva

buy frozen white bread dough 5 pack,
let rise per package instructions,
season with salt & pepper & rosemary,
extra virgin olive oil brush on top (optional)
plate setter legs down/pizza stone/corn meal 400-425 degrees for 23 minutes (medium egg) or desired browness,
pull and cool on rack,
slice with bread knife (if you can because it's so soft it deforms under the bestest bread knife)[p]spread butter and let melt with bread's warmness,
drizzle honey[p]h e a v e n[p][p]

dude,
that depends on what sort of meat you just cooked to insert into the bread. ( i've had dreams of just cutting off an end of a loaf and hollowing it out and filling it with meat and eating it like an ice cream cone, but don't tell anyone)[p]just adjust the dampers to 400 degrees dome, and stabilize with the plate setter/pizza stone stone in[p]

heya Chubby,[p]

Rick's Tropical Delight,
Darn good picture! I've got to get a better camera!!
-
buy frozen white dinner roll dough,
lightly coat the inside of 3 inch clay flower pots with olive oil,
drop three frozen dinner rolls into each pot,
season as desired,
let rise until dough breaks out of the top of the pot,
bake per package directions in clean burning Egg,
brush top with olive oil and sprinkle with seasoning.[p]don't remove from pot, serve as is.

Chubby,[p]"What kind of cow is that?"[p]My kids would have asked this when they were small. Possible answers were:
A - Steak
B - Hamburger
C – Milk[p]Yea, they know what BBQ is.
-
Michael B,
what a fabulous idea!
what's your egg set up for this?
-
Rick's Tropical Delight,[p]Plate setter, legs up, with the BGE grate on top. You want the air to circulate freely around the pots. They cook the same as if you are cooking in a Pyrex loaf pan.
You will get a little nub of bread crust out the hole in the bottom of the pot. I keep saying I am going to cut circles of wax paper to place in the bottom of the pots before I drop in the dough to prevent this, but I never do. The only other thing I can think of is, don't use pots that have had plants in them. ;-)[p]Mike
-
Michael B,
thanks man! i am definitely going to try that...
have you ever tried stuffing the bread with stuff... like a chicken flower pot pie?
-
Rick's Tropical Delight,[p]No I haven't, unless you count monkey bread. Cut the dough into smaller pieces, roll in melted butter, brown sugar and cinnamon. When you put the coated dough in the pot, alternate with layers of coarsely chopped pecans and a light sprinkling of black walnuts.[p]Mike
-
Almost forgot, If you try the monkey bread, put a drip pan under the pots because you will have butter dripping out the drain hole in the bottom.
-
Michael B,
holly cow that sounds good!
