anybody have any experience with warranty claims with these? it's an xl and has had a superficial looking crack in it for awhile now. guess it wasn't so superficial after all. i've had great success with warranty claims in the past so this should be about the same. even in two pieces, I'm going to give it a go with pizzas tonight.

I've actually been wishing mine would break so I could justify buying a cast iron plate setter. Forget the warranty ... take the opportunity to go cast iron.

^^^ One of those cast iron plate setter is actually popped up in a advertisement when I was surfing the Internet last week.. have you looked into them at all? I wonder how well they work I think it was about $130 if I'm not mistakenXL bge, Mini max & 36 BS Griddle.

A woo and stone set up from the ceramic grill store is a great replacement for a plate setter. I use that combo on my XL and it allows me to cook indirect, raised direct or sear with a grid on the lower ring. It's a lot easier to switch from indirect to direct (a hot stone is easier to handle than a hot plate setter).

If mine ever breaks...have considered putting the pieces back together and encasing the whole thing in 1/8 th steel.
