AbqEgg'r,
I like to do them direct at about 300 or so. They char pretty quickly, so if you keep the temps relatively low for grilling temps, you should get a nice color, and a hot inside. Probably some other great ideas some others have...I haven't seen many posts on dogs! [p]Enjoy!

AbqEgg'r,[p]I prefer quality dogs as it does make a difference in taste. I normally split them down the middle and cook at 275F with the flat side down. The lower cooking temp allows for a nice controled browning without the burn. Done in about 30 minutes. Move them around once to avoid hot spots.[p]You could lower the cooking temp more and smoke them. I haven't tried it.[p]Spin

Spin,
These are Oscar Mayer's left over from a fundraiser my wife was at. I looked the archives and found reference to Buffalo hot dogs that are supposed to be great. Will try them next time we buy some..without kids at home we don't eat many HD's anymore.[p]TR

Nature Boy,
I actually grilled some dogs last evening for dinner. I like them when they are charred but I also cut them in half at the end & stuff the middle with cheese, which melts while the buns are browning. Unleash the flavor! J

J Appledog,
Sounds great. Eatin' dogs and looking out over L. Michgan.
Yeeeeeeeeee ha!
Unleash the flavor.
Have fun.

I was looking for something else and ran across the thread on 'how do cook' a hotdog. Wacky.
And for the overachiever, WRAP 'EM in BACON. -

This thread is only 2 years shy of being able to vote. Gotta be some kind of record.

Have you guys ever tried Hot Dog Burnt Ends?
Score Dogs, cube, put in small aluminum tin with can of sliced pineapple and BBQ sauce of your choice and cook until you reach the desired candy texture. I think when I did it, I cooked them at 350 for about an hour and half or so. It was done on the Pellet grill Pre-Egg.
Simple, fast, kids LOVE to help with this one, and pretty tasty little snack during a football game.

Talk about a Rip Van Winkle....
But as long as we're all here, I may as well add this.

He's been doing dogs on BGEs for almost as long...excellent product too off of the grill. Worth traveling for. And I can say I knew him when he only was using one Egg on the trailer.
