I was cleaning out my XL in preparation for my SRF Brisket cook and noticed a crack in my fire box. Sent images to Bruce at BGE Customer Service for warranty replacement. I assume I can still proceed with the cook in spite of the crack.

That's no big deal. You can cook on that for a while. That's basically an expansion gap now.

I cooked on a cracked ring quite a while. I just got a warranty replacement and the new one looks a lot sturdier than the original.

That is reassuring news! Thanks!

Whoops! Just realized it was the Fire Box not ring. Corrected the post.

My firebox has been cracked for over a year now. I have a new one in the garage when it finally gets unusable.
