The new ring came straight out of the dealer's floor/demo egg (they were kind enough to sell me that so I wouldn't have to wait two weeks for BGE to ship it out; they've ordered a replacement for themselves). It fit perfectly well in their egg.Milton, GA

Coul and GoooDawgs win this round (with a grateful hat tip to fishlessman)!
I'm getting full warranty replacement of base and dome.
PHEW!
So what should I cook to celebrate? -
That is great- congrats! Do you still have to figure out how to rescue the fire ring from old base?Which came first the chicken or the egg? I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.

Rather than try to dispose of my previous body and dome, I'm thinking of gifting it to my chronically unemployed nephew (along with the broken-up fire ring). Since I'm getting nothing but dome and base from BGE, I'd need, let's see, firebox, thermometer, grating,....and what else is mandatory?

Wow, even handles aside (can't find them listed anywhere), and assuming he won't need a ceramic damper top, I'll need to drop nearly $400!
Woops, this doesn't even include a nest, so make it $430 with the basic, non-wheeled nest. This might not be viable.Ceramic Fire BoxPrice: $126.96Item Number: 401182Big Green Egg Cast Iron Fire GratePrice: $14.49Dual Function Metal Damper TopPrice: $46.96Item Number: 2012323" Temperature Gauge by SmokewarePrice: $27.95Item Number: SM107Stainless Draft Door & MeshPrice: $9.95Spring Assisted BandPrice: $102.95Stainless Cooking GratePrice: $52.49
