New Base, same nest.... no fit?

I must be crazy. Received my new base. Removed old base from nest. Put new base in nest. New base sits 3" off bottom of nest. Put old one back in, snug. Try new one again, 3" from support brackets. I tried turning it 1/4 turns all the way around. No dice. The bolts from the draft door are preventing it from going in. Old draft door, pre-screen, is 12 1/4 long. New is 12 1/2. Guess that's enough to do it.

Now I have to work on a Plan B......

Can you loosen up the bolts on the nest to see if there is any adjustment to it to make it fit? Just a thought.

Too late. Got a new nest. No way it was fitting. Here is the design of the older ones. Casters are new. Chiminea in back has a newer nest

Curious about the cage in the picture. What kind of pet is that for?

I would contact Bruce and see if they will do anything that's the old style nest it doesn't fit for sure.

@Lit, I'm not that worried about it. The old nest was rusting in some spots. Seeing how this was the first thing I've had to replace, minus gasket, in 16 years, I'm ok with it. Base was warranty.

@rrp , that's just a trap for small animals. I'm redoing my lanai so, currently, outside critters have access to enter; opossums, raccoons, feral cats... I 'relocate' them to the other side of town.

Is that nest for the chiminea a large? If so may be able to swap them?

Yes, it will fit a large. However, the Chim won't fit right in the old nest either. I guess my old base will now be a side table on wheels like I've seen others do.
