how did you get the fire box so clean?

I have done the same thing for my large.It was cast iron from factory,in 1 1/2 years it split open.Replaced it in one day from Home Depot,not worth waiting for mother ship to replace it.

Uh...
That looks alot like a Lodge Cast Iron Trivet that goes in the bottom of a dutch oven to keep your meat from burning on the bottom of the oven. This one in the picture has little feet on the bottom and "ears" that stick out but older ones were just completely round.
