Flameboss 200 Wifi Help

Just got the FB 200 and I'm unsuccessful in setting up WiFi. Signal strength is not an issue. I’m using WPA or WPA2 security on a Verizon FIOS router. All other WiFi devices connect fine. I’ve rebooted the unit and rebooted my router.

I plugged it in (without probes) and the unit goes into WiFi set-up mode. The FB 200 unit finds my my WiFi’s SSID and then I enter the password. I then select the right arrow and hit menu. I get a configuring Wifi message and then it returns to the screen showing pit and meat temp. It never connects. Scrolling through the menus, it shows the correct password.

It may be due to your WPA setting on your FB. I have a Cyber Q and I was stuck until I chose WPA Personal setting.

I don't see a way to change the WPA on the FB.

I would call FB support for advice and make sure you are entering the correct password.

I gave up trying to enter my password into the device. Instead, I changed my setting to the flameboss default, SSID to fb and password to 'fb200200'.

once online, I was able to change the wifi settings online. After a reboot, I changed my router setuubf back and everything worked.

Wohoo!!!
@SmyrnaGA This is working. Changed the router SSID and password to the FB 200 defaults and it went through. It has started downloading updates.

Now I'm waiting for confirmation e-mail so I can log on and switch things back to normal.

All is good. Logged in and changed the wifi instructions and after that was sent to the unit, I changed my router settings are back to its normal SSID and password running WPA2. Tested it and I was able to use my phone to change pit temp.

All set to test it it tomorrow. It's time to head to the store for something to cook.

Trying to configure mine now.............really PISSING me off! It keeps changing my password when I hit MENU and will not connect.

You might have firmware that won't handle long passwords. Once the unit connects, then it'll update to the latest firmware and that problem will be alleviated.

If it's easy to do, one other forum member created a guest network with an easy/short password. That was used long enough to get the firmware updated.

Got it fixed! I was the malfunction - misunderstood the right arrow entry after entering the password. It's online and ready to rock! Thanks for the help, @Jeepster47.

setup works but is a bit clunky. it'd be nice if it had an easier setup mode that you could access from your phone.

I agree the setup is a tad clunky. I was strung out from flying all day yesterday when I first tried to set it up. Fresh eyes prevailed today.
