Kansas City is hosting the 21st annual American Royal BBQ contest this weekend. It's supposed to be the biggest in the country with 357 teams participating. I was wandering around this morning prior to the rib judging (I judged rib rubs and bastes), and ran into a team from Denton, TX that took first place in chicken this year using
a large BGE. Their leader told me he had been using an Egg for the past five years and won several contests with it. Unfortunately, the Egg was empty when I was there. If you're watching the weather radar tonight and see a cloud over northwest MO, it ain't rain - it's hickory smoke from the Royal.
