Accessory Identification Help - Wok Ring?

This came with my "new" to me small egg - it looks a lot like the wok rings that the OG sandbagger used to make (see here) - but wanted to confirm and see if there was anything else I'm missing. Just seems strange to have a wok ring for a small egg when most pans can fit on the fire ring (yes, with limited airflow)
Background - the hot wife bought me a used small Egg from Craigslist recently and I've got no background on the accessories or egg itself. (she spent $200 - so not a huge expense in any case)

Looks very similar to today's "spider" the Ceramic Grill Store sells"The pig is an amazing animal. You feed a pig an apple and it makes bacon. Let's see Michael Phelps do that" - Jim Gaffigan

looks homemade, spider for a wok or maybe for supporting a camp dutch oven with legs
fukahwee maineyou can lead a fish to water but you can not make him drink it -
Some use their spiders to support a small grid - for searing steaks, etc.#1 LBGE December 2012 • #2 SBGE February 2013 • #3 Mini May 2013A happy BGE family in Houston, TX.
