No this isn't a CL hookup post...I wanted to see if there are any Eggers on here from the Pittsburgh Area and if so...where do y'unz get yer meat?
I'm looking to do a brisket for Father's Day and I've typically defaulted to Costco for most of my meat. However I believe that they only sell the Flat Cut there and not the whole Packer. If I'm doing Brisket I'd like to do burnt ends!
Any help/suggestions from fellow yinzers out there?

Some walmarts have packers for $3.48 a pound. If yours doesn't you can ask someone in the meat department to order one. At least they do that out my way. I also get from rest depot.

Thanks all. Based on some initial research on this site, I would need to join KCBS to be able to get a Day Pass to Rest Depot?North Pittsburgh, PA

Thanks for the heads up on Walmart. While I haven't tried them but DJs Butcher Shop in Bloomfield might have them

Also, anyone know where to get a tri tip in the burgh?

Check with pastureperfectbeef.net Although they are located in Grove City, PA they sell high quality organic, 21 day dry aged beef. Grove City isn't too far from the "burgh. " At a recent BGE event in Mercer County they were selling packages at a discount that made the trip worthwhile. Check their website, you can order by phone and have it delivered or pick it up by appointment at their farm. Their tri-tips I purchased cooked beautifully on the BGE!
Ditto on the advice to watch Wal-Mart--usually Wednesday is the day they mark down their meat prices-briskets and ribs (beef and pork) are frequently among the mark downs.Knox, PA, Medium, Mini Max, Mini, Large KJ, grandma, handcyclist, eagle watcher, always in search of good chocolate. -

As I tell many people looking for cuts of meat that their store doesn't carry - speak to the meat manager about ordering it. If they want you business they will usually order what you want. If they do, tell your friends to shop there.
