Ok guy's, need a bit of clarification on the term. Are we talking about buttah that's been sitting in the fridge? Or buttah that's been sitting on the counter. Which type of toothpick are we talking about, a flat sided pick? Or a rounded with the sharper point. Hopefully I'm not splitting hairs here, just trying to get it right.

Basically if you are using a Thermopen size probe it should almost fall through under its own weight.

Butter on the counter sitting in the sun. Round, slightly warm, smooth toothpick - either the little carved Japanese ones or the colored ones.

I like to use the ones with umbrellas, that way when they fall through, you can catch them.
