TRI-TIP Last Night

Just wanted to let everyone know I did a 2LB. Tri-tip (my first) on the EGG last night.
Rubbed down with olive oil and then a liberal amount of "John Henry's" Sugar Maple Rub. 1 hour @ 275 dome and then 3 minutes a side at 700 to finish. It was GREAAAT!
May have been the tastiest piece of meat I've done so far in my year of cooking with the "BGE"

Jackbythesea, I am glad the tri tip worked out but I have one question. With the sugar maple rub at 700 degrees, did the sugars in the rub not burn....T

Jackbythesea,
You are encouraging me to try this! I have a tri tip in the ice box now, maybe I should thaw it out and give it a whirl. I do like that John Henry Maple rub - it is pretty darn good!

Jackbythesea,
I did a tri-tip last night. I grilled it at 500 dome to an internal temp of 130. I let it rest for a full 15 minutes under foil. It was as moist and tender as I ever done. I seasoned simply with salt, pepper and garlic salt. Happy tri-tipping. LOL, Tom
