I have a friend who is looking for a Beef Stew recipe that is spicy. Everything I have is not even close to being considered spicy as I'm not one who likes my beef stew spicy. I know that with the brain trust around here there has to be something we can guide him to.

He could just add some cayenne to an established recipe or chop up some jalapenos into it for pops of heat. No need to reinvent the wheel.

Hungarian goulash with hot paprika. Hard to find hot paprika in the US. Should be marked "erős." Szeged brand "hot" works sometimes. I suppose it depends on freshness.
Adding cayenne to common paprika can work. The result should be about as hot as a stew w. Tabasco sauce. -

Cayenne, spicy paprika as amentioned, OR little hot Thai red chilies chopped up. Perhaps a few habaneros.
