Outdoor Kitchen Question

I am thinking of turning this unfinished shed into and outdoor kitchen/bar on my patio. It is a shed that my dad started build in Kentucky before he passes away. I have taken it apart and moved it to Indiana. My plan is to reassemble it and finish it, then turn it into a new home for my Egg. I will open one side by adding swing open doors and a flip out bar and plan to install some type of exhaust vent for the Egg. I will have a fireproof mat around the egg in case a hot coal falls out and will keep it at least a foot away from the walls. Just curious if anyone has any input or experience in doing something like this.

this is a neat idea. are you planning on using a standard kitchen hood for exhaust or were you looking to pipe the exhaust directly out of the egg via some type of duct attached to the egg itself? a tile surround would work great for "fireproofing" the area around the egg.

At this point I am planning to fabricate a hood to span over 2 eggs and put a fan in it (along the back wall with an egg in each corner).

We bought a 16' SS hood from an out of business chinese restaurant for $500.00 off craigslist and modified it to fit in the space we had. Keep an eye out for things like that, especially if you or one of your friends can do a little cutting and welding.

I love the building. I would rebuild it on a slab with only one side wall and install cabinets and countertop on that wall. Leave the other sides open or screened in. With an open ceiling, just install an attic ventilation fan in the roof to exhaust trapped smoke.

I will probably keep it so I can close it up when not in use and for cold and wet weather cooking. It will be sitting on a paver patio. Already setup with water and electric.
