Is extreme cold an issue for BGE?

It's going to be in the single digits with 20 - 30 mph winds. Is it hazardous do the life of my BGE to fire it up and a do a ~ 3 hour cook in that weather? I've done it before in the 20's and and 30's, but I'm a bit concerned about these conditions.

No problem for the Egg, just a problem for the Egger. Don't recall the lowest, but I think some Canadian Eggers have reported cooking in -30F. My record is 0F.

I've cooked at -22F without any problem. No way I could have done that with my old gaser...

I am also going to be firing up the Egg tonight as my Wife has requested a steak dinner....I think the only thing apart from the cold will be to keep an eye on the sparks with the predicted wind..

oh I'm sorry you don't need them like other eggers. You will cook in the cold. No problems with cold. I just wouldn't tourch the egg up super fast.

I'll be out there around 6:30 this evening cooking up some swordfish. Can't wait. Yeah it will be cold but the dinner will be fantastic. Egg on!!!! @tarheelmatt with the arctic cold of central NC I would probably consider putting on a windbreaker.

I've cooked -19F with no issues. The neighbors don't know what to think when your grilling in weather like that.

-22F (-30C) with no issues (and that was a direct cook). Though admittedly, I was planning on doing pizza this Sunday, but decided against it given that we're expecting to see windchill factors in the -40 range. Something about getting the temp in the egg that hot that fast, combined with the extreme cold outside that makes me nervous. But your 3 hour low and slow is not an issue IMO.

It got all the way down to 66F here in SoCal last night, and didn't notice any problems with the Egg. There were some scattered high clouds, and it got dark around 6:00 PM, but no issues to report...

@tksmoke With temperatures like that my advise would be to sell your Eggs to those of us that will use them at such drastic temperatures. How do you survive in such inclement weather?

Not many places more brutal than Ontario. Down here in WI it is supposed to be -14 tonight and windy. I will be out there searing off some sous vide 2" boneless pork chops. They might freeze though before I get them back indoors.

I have done many cooks well below -30 with fairly quick warm ups with no issue.

Damm thats cold. I'm sticking to my winter cooking like 50-60 degrees for cold cooking.

No issues that I've seen. Coldest I've used the BGE at is -45C.

-40F and colder easy with no issues. -20 is just another day. That is with no wind.

Even when it is warm out, winds can and will effect any device that burns fuels.

-25 wind chill no problem for the Egg, but in the words of Seargent Murtaugh, I'm getting too old for this $hit. I'm cooking inside.
