First post and overbuilt table frame photo
Have a medium and am enjoying it very much. Have tried many things on it, most of which I read about here.
I am in awe of some of the amazing tables I see on here. Am a little bit ashamed of mine it is so below the level
of craftsmanship displayed by some of the woodworking artists on here.
Here is mine I built the end of last spring. First is the frame, constructed of 2x4 and 2x6s, glued and nailed.
This thing is very heavy. It is overkill to support the medium egg.
Anyway, I'll post the finished table pic later.

Welcome. Glad you decided to join the party. Post some cooks! If the table holds your egg, it's good!
-
Thank you for the kind welcome. It seems to hold the egg OK.
Here is a finished pic. Notice the wilting azaleas in the background. This was probably last May.
-
Nothing wrong with that! I'm digging the little egg emblem on the left.
-
Yeah, a little freebie picked up at the mothership store I glued on. Thanks for noticing.theyolksonyou said:Nothing wrong with that! I'm digging the little egg emblem on the left.

Looks good. Maybe need to get some air space between the egg and the paver.George Foreman? Who?Tim C. Panama City, Fl.Large, Minimax-soon

I guess that was my thinking as well. Still, my next table probably won't be so darn heavy.

Thank you.tcampbell said:Nice

Yeah, I have to get one of those mini nest things for the airspace, just have not done it yet.tcracing said:Looks good. Maybe need to get some air space between the egg and the paver.

I gota say, I was on a paver for a few months and when I switched to the table nest, my table was starting to get dark. I can stick my hand under the egg at 700 no problem. Air is a great insulator.
-
So basically, the paver transfers the heat from the bottom of the grill on down to the wood of the table?
-
It insulated somewhat, but it still transfers. I started reading about some of the forum members having fires on their tables and even some houses and decides $30 was a small price to pay.
-
Thanks for the advice. So signing up and posting already paid off. I am learning valuable lessons on my first posting. Thank you Georgia neighbor.

Beautiful country over there. If you can, you should come to GA Mtn Eggfest in May. It's in hiawassee
-
Yeah, I have to go to one of those sometime. Last year we were traveling when it was going on, then missed the Octoberfest at Stone Mountain as well. Maybe this year.
-
Welcome to the forum. Nice job on the table.
Any road will take you there if you don't know where you're going.

Thanks. Looking forward to building another table sometime.

First off, welcome. Great table, looks sturdy as hell, mine is getting janky, and filthy. Thinking of having a S.S, skin made for top too. +1 on the additional paver, or nest. I am going to get a 1/2" alum plate at my local steel shop, try it as a heat sink between paver, and wood, will post my findings.

Dude, holy shnit, I just looked real close at first pic of framing, nice job using heat treated, kiln dried, premium studs. The builder in me is smiling.

Nice table, overbuilt mine as well. I'm not big on scrambled egg.

Welcome! Your table and the azaleas look good... its the propane tank we worry about
Also, to create an air gap, these are cheap:

Thanks, might just give those a try.

That's a great looking table that should last a long time. The only thing I might do different is use a solid piece of all thread for the large wheels, I want to call the rear. But then again at first glance I didn't realize it was a medium and not a large.

Great looking table and welcome!
