So today, I bought a prime brisket in TX. Threw it in a cooler with dry ice, and shipped to jax. Is this a sickness, or what?!?

That is completely normal behaviour, nothing wrong, carry on sir. The recipient is hopefully worthy, and you sound like a good guy for doing it.

How nice. Should I expect it today or tomorrow? >:D<fusionhq said:So today, I bought a prime brisket in TX. Threw it in a cooler with dry ice, and shipped to jax. Is this a sickness, or what?!?

So...I know it is cheaper but what is the total after meat, packaging and shipping cost?Just a hack that makes some $hitty BBQ....

@cazzy I'm not sure yet since I shipped it in my ups acct. Brisket, dry ice and cooler were $75ish. Probably end up right at $100. There's really no way to compare proces since we dknt have prime. I will tell you choice whole packers here are $5-9 per pound.

All I know is that you and @NPHuskerFL need to get your part of the world sorted out. We are looking to retire to St. Augustiine Beach in 10-15 years and I'm going to need some prime brisket in my life.

@NPHuskerFL it seems hopeless. I may just get SRF from now on.

What's wrong with Choice from like Freshfields Farm? I've been real happy with them. And a few from Sam's Club were okay (but, just okay).LBGE 2013 & MM 2014Die Hard HUSKER & BRONCO FANFlying Low & Slow in "Da Burg" FL

Just ok is what I've had. I'll let you know how this one turns out. Box and cooler were damaged, but brisket was solid as a rock. It was not frozen when I bought it.

How long should I expect a prime 14.5# hunk of goodness to cook? Looking like a Sunday early dinner!?

Are you positive you got my address right on the shipping label?

@fusionhq, my last 12 lber at 225-250F took 20 hrs.It was not prime, fattier should take less time. Good luck to you sir. YMMV

I've had luck with planning for a 1.5 hour per pound cook. Even though most of my briskets have taken less time to cook. The FTC always saves the day. Some FTC has been less some has been more but always hit the feeding time. Just my .02LBGE& SBGE———————————————•———————– Pennsylvania / poconos
