Hope everyone had a great end to 2014. Minus getting the flu, we had a great Christmas and luckily was well enough for New Years I could enjoy a few adult beverages. Managed to get a few cooks in and thought I'd share some pics. Santa brought me a mini woo/pizza stone combo, BGE corn holders (which turned into a few tree ornaments, oven gloves and "The Great Salsa Book". Happy New Year!
The sharp ends were broken off and a piece of thread was added to make the ornaments:
Made my first reverse seared tri-tip! Turned out great!
Plated with some roasted red potatoes off the mini:
Standard buffalo wings:
Beer brats with sauteed peppers and onions and a side of tater tots:
And finally, some New Year's Eve babyback ribs!
One end had already fallen off:

@tarheelmatt Thank Matt! I've never had the flu before and rarely get sick, so I know it is bad this year. I even got the flu shot and my wife didn't - somehow she didn't get the flu but I did!Large - Mini - Blackstone 17", 28", 36"

Good eats fence. My wife read the the Chattanooga area has the highest flu rate in the country! Lucky us only 20 miles away. So far, so good, but I won't be surprised if we get a visit after school starts back tomorrow.

@theyolksonyou - sure hope yall don't get it!@johnkitchens - thanks John! Funny you got the same ornaments - I was surprised she broke them but she really wanted to give me ornaments this year and couldn't find the real ones in the store. Thanks @Legume! I always love ribs and the first go at the tri tip turned out better than I had planned. Thanks to this forum I was able to follow along and it made the cook quite easy.Large - Mini - Blackstone 17", 28", 36"

Thanks @JRWhitee - I came across a small one at Kroger and figured it was time to pull the trigger. I think I'll add more seasoning next time as it seems like it can take a decent amount. The best part is my wife prefers it cooked a little more than I do, so she got the ends and I had the middle where it was more medium/rare. Give it shot! It makes for great fajita or taco leftovers too.Large - Mini - Blackstone 17", 28", 36"

grege345 said:The great salsa book sounds interestingI would highly recommend it if you enjoy making salsa. I made the Chipotle Tomatillo Salsa for a party the other night and it was a hit. Each page has a recipe, a heat index and examples of what to pair the salsa with. Not to mention the number of salsas I never knew existed!Large - Mini - Blackstone 17", 28", 36"

Thanks for the link @NDG! I used my cast iron skillet to char the tomatillos and they were perfect. I love grilling veggies, esp for use in salsas/guacamole. I think you'd enjoy the book!Large - Mini - Blackstone 17", 28", 36"
