Screwing up but still reaping the benefits!

So I continue playing with my new large BGE and I find that even with mistakes things turn our great.  I was all jacked to cook some ribs Trigg/3-2-1 style.  After 3 hours on the egg at 230 I couldn't wait to foil them, slathered in their sauce cocoon of goodness...in my excitement I forgot to shut the lid and when I came back with my wrapped rib presents the temp had skyrocketed to 450!!!  In panic I closed all vents and watched the temp drop...it was still hot but no more smoke.  I threw a pan of apple cider in the egg, placed the ribs in and then trimmed down the 3-2-1 to 3-.75-.50 and crossed my fingers.  They came out great!  I love when the egg gods are looking down on me!
