I can get about 8 one hour long cooks outta a bag of charcoal (8kg).

I use a 22 lb bag and get about 15 cooks of avg one hour. It burns way beyond an hour between start and cool down. I'm not sure what it will matter once you get to low and slow....

Too many variables for me to sort out-just put the lump load where I want it and go from there. YMMV- >-Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period.
