@LRGINMT How are things going with the cook? Pics ?XL, Large, 2 Small's and Mini BGE Arlington Texas

Going good 1st pic was at 3:30 this morning egg chugging along at 240. I adjusted it up to 280 and went back to bed. First one done this morning at about 8 FTC'd and the rest are in the upper 170's to upper 180's. I took the first one off at 195.

What IT did you pull the 1st one at (like buttuh)? Lookin good man! What are you using for pit controller? That's gonna be big an epic grad party feast :-)LBGE 2013 & MM 2014Die Hard HUSKER & BRONCO FANFlying Low & Slow in "Da Burg" FL

I pulled it @ 195 IT. Pit controller is yours truly. Went to bed at 12:30 egg was at 260 checked it at 3:30 egg was at 240. It has stayed above 2:40 since. Just pulled and FTC'd the second one. Pulled it at 195 IT. 4 more to go they are all in the mid 180's.

The probes attached to maverick then?LBGE 2013 & MM 2014Die Hard HUSKER & BRONCO FANFlying Low & Slow in "Da Burg" FL

Just some cheap thermometer I bought at my local Ace. Ordering a maverick soon. Can't decide which model to go with. Do you have one @NPHuskerFL?
-
Which butts hit temp the earliest? It's an obsession, but it's pleasin'
-
@LRGINMT No I was really torn. I researched and listened to forum member reviews and online non biased reviews. I decided to go with the Stoker for my L&S. Anything above 375℉ or so I do like normal. I still use my TP to double check IT. But, FWIW I've haven't heard a lot of negatives on the Maverick. Just like all the manufacturer's probes I would always recommend running the leads over one of the PS legs to protect from direct radiant heat.LBGE 2013 & MM 2014Die Hard HUSKER & BRONCO FANFlying Low & Slow in "Da Burg" FL

@dragonwmatches the first one done was on the bottom left and the second one done was on the top middle.

With no pit control and a "Butt Load" of $$$ in protein I'm certain you haven't got much sleep. Awesome cook!LBGE 2013 & MM 2014Die Hard HUSKER & BRONCO FANFlying Low & Slow in "Da Burg" FL

Thanks it has been awesome and relatively uneventful. I have gotten some sleep but not a lot. I didn't want to screw this up.
-
Done. Turned out great. Thanks to everyone on the forum for all the pointers & suggestions.
-
Good lord.. I did one 8 pounder with Mickey's rub last night using the Digi Q at 240. 12 hours to 195. Put it on at 10PM and slept through it. 5 of them... 40 pounds.... hmmm. gotta try that.
-
now THAT'S what i'm talking about! The capabilities of the BGE LG size never cease to amaze!
-
THAT is a large mountain of Butt! Kudos to you on what liked like an awesome cook!
-
@LRGINMT, looks like it turned out great, congrats on the cook and the graduation. I am planning on doing the same for a grad party this weekend. Did you inject them? Rub? Did you sauce it when you served it?
-
@Legume. I did not inject them at all. I rubbed them (without mustard my son who graduated hates mustard) Bad Byron's Butt Rub. Had store bought BBQ sauce bottles on table for sauce.
-
Wow,great job. I'm worried about cooking one and you cooked all these. Awesome!!!

@Charlesmaneri the upper rack is the standard 18.25 that comes with the large. I bolted them together with 4 5/16 stainless steel carriage bolts.

I used 6" bolts on this cook. I also have sets of 4", 5" & 5 1/2" for different applications.
