My firebox and ring have been cracked for a while. Firebox is in 3 pieces but functions fine. Placesetter has a hairline crack also. Lit the egg to burn off the remaining lump getting ready for the weekend and just looked under the egg.. A little voice. Sure enough, a crack from the vent across the bottom. Everything is covered by warranty so that's good. A new dome is $150 so I might just go ahead and have a whole new egg. I just installed a rutland.
This is a great reminder that those Craigslist "deals" might not be such a great idea.

Just installed my new mini base, used my cracked one for a year after getting the replacement. It feels new again.Seattle, WA

If, and I know henapple isn't in this category, you're cooking on a wood deck or some other surface that may ignite, I would caution against continuing to use a cracked base for the very real possibility of starting a fire.

I noticed a slight crack in my firebox the other day when I was cleaning the small parts of lump left over out...
I haven't registered it online, and didn't get a card in the box, but DID buy it from a rather large authorized dealer locally who has it in their system that I bought it. Hope thats enough proof when I go to get it replaced. Right at a year old too..

@FATC1TY I'd call Big Green Egg and explain the circumstances and get it registered. If your dealer ever goes out of business, you are screwed. You should be fine if something happens while your dealer has your info. Also, if you move, it would be a PIA to have to get proof from the original dealer.Mark Annville, PA

My dealer went out of business. Never registered the warranty, but fortunately I had the presence of mind to get him to email me a receipt. That's all I needed to invoke the warranty. Picking up a replacement base on Monday. I'm having to drive ~80 miles out of the way, but it was that or wait indefinitely for the local dealer to make an order.Kemah, TX

That pic would be "Manny, Moe and Jack"...and given the extent of @henapple's submerged and undetected run I figured that combo was more than a critical mass. Sorry to hear about the friggin' failures but you are right, the warranty is quite strong.Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period.

Hell. I really need to register mine. My mini doesn't even have a serial number.
