Spatchcock Turkey?

I'm thinking of trying something different this year and spatchcocking my turkey and cooking it direct. I plan to use a smaller turkey for this. I checked at Giant today and most of the smaller turkeys are Butterballs, which I've heard you shouldn't brine (I always brine smoked turkeys).[p]Are there any good places in the MD/DC area for a smaller turkey that isn't injected? I'll probably try Safeway and Shopper's tomorrow.[p]Also, will regular polutry shears work on a turkey back or should I buy a stronger tool? (some kind of small garden shears or something).[p]Any tips/stories on spatchcocking a turkey?
