So the wife and I went to Cash and Carry for some stuff for a birthday we are throwing (non-egged food) I go to check out their prices on meat and they are ridiculously cheap (like a dollar cheap than last time I check) pork shoulders were 1.46/lb brisket was 2.52/lb.
Lesson learned, prices get jacked up for summer!

I bought pork butts by the case at Sam's last Spring for $1.15/lb. Five twin packs - large butts too.I bought another case this past November at the same club for $1.26. 77.5 lbs for $98.Local locker plant was $2.29/lb that same day.

Yeah, I went for brisket today and refused to pay 7.99 per pound for a flat and 5.49 per pound for a whole. If it wasn't 2* outside I might of gotten the packer, but decided that a 68 dollar piece of meat wasn't in my bag of tricks today.I raise my kids, cook and golf. When work gets in the way I'm pissed, I'm pissed off 48 weeks a year.Inbetween Iowa and Colorado, not close to anything remotely entertaining outside of football season.

Got introduced to Gordon Food Services (GFS) and stopped by today. Paid 2.49/Lb for choice packer brisket.... it is currently on the egg at 180 for a planned 25 hour cook for tomorrow's BCS game.... Hope the quality of meat is ok...-------------------------------------------------------------------------Keywords: Gator, Nashvegas, LBGE, Looftlighter, Thermapen in Racing Green (faster than the red one!), PSWOO2, Spider with CI, IQ120

I never thought about GFS for meat. I am interested to hear how it was.

I have purchased spare ribs, pork butts and choice grade packers at my local GFS. I have always been pleased with the quality. I usually shop there in conjunction with a $5 off coupon with a $50 purchseNerk Ahia LBGE

Good to know. That will make a good alternative to Sam's Club.

If you're lucky enough to have a restaurant depot nearby, see if you can link up with someone in the food business who can take you in. Prices and quantity/quality are great.

Just picked up a ~20 lb frozen turkey from Target last week for 29 cents per pound. Should make a good spatchcock for around $6! Just means more money for beer.L x2, M, S, Mini and a Blackstone 36. She says I have enough now....eggAddict from MN!
