Coldest thanksgiving since 1911 here in Atlanta Georgia today! Went to fire the egg up around 6:30 this morning to smoke the family's turkey and it's frozen shut! This is the first time that's ever happened! But, I know what to do after see how you guys get it to open! Happy turkey day to all my egghead brethren!

Somebody said to drop a lit oil slathered paper towel in the top of the dome (or the bottom for that matter) and wait. There's another thread down below on it.
Good luck,

Put canola oil or veg. Oil on a paper towel and put into bottom vent. It will light your coals from bottom.

28 degrees and freezing fog in my part of Washington this morning. Egg wasn't frozen so it's a great day to be cooking outside!

17 up in Clayton, Ga., about 100 miles northeast of Atlanta. Went to fire her up, FROZEN SHUT!
Top frozen on also, and bottom door/screen also frozen shut. Brought out the trusty hair drier and commenced to pour hot air around it. Got the top off and pointed the dryer down the hole. It came open after a couple of minutes, but had to start the fire with the bottom still frozen. Didn't take long to free it up!
Lesson.....if you're going to cook the next day after a day of 4" rain, followed by 17 degrees, cover it up beforehand! Breast cooking now.
