Here's a shout out to all you Midwesterners who can't find Tri-Tip roasts. Trader Joe's has two kinds of cryovac USDA Choice Tri-Tip roasts. One is seasond and the other is plain. They sell for $5.49 or $5.99 a lb. I usually grill them at 425 for 15 minutes to a medium rare, They come out really juicy and tender. LOL on your first Tri-Tip.

BajaTom,
Thanks. Been gettin' mine from Costco here in K.C. Mo. but I have to cryovac them myself.Where is Trader Joe's located?
-
jake42,
They are usually found in upscale shopping centers. I go to St Louis to shop Trader Joe's. I don't know KC that well. I love Gates BBQ. Your a lucky fellow. Good luck on your search. Might try thr phone book or telephone information.

BajaTom,
Bummer......
A friend of mine just got back from St. Louis on a buisiness trip.
Oh yea, love Gates but nothin' beats the fun of The Egg.
-
BajaTom,
Which one do you prefer?
Seth
-
Crab leg,
I prefer the plain so I can season it up my way.
-
BajaTom,
Does your Joe's have fresh meat section? I travel into St Louis and they only have a small selection of frozen beef mostly steaks, Australian.

BajaTom, Been getting our tri tips from a local butcher shop at 5.69 lb.
He will cut them into nice tri tip steaks that are great. Trader Joes
is also close by so maybe we will try theirs tomorrow and see which is
better. Thanks for the heads up. For seasoning I like to use garlic powder, onion powder and celery salt.

Jingles,
They have a fairly large meat and produce section. I grilled one of the Tri-Tips tonight. I seasoned with garlic salt, salt, pepper, and meat tenderizer. Grilled at 450 for 15 minutes, dwelled for 10 minutes, and rested 10 minutes. It was absolutely the best I have ever done. Tender, juicy, and flavorable.

BajaTom,
Do you go to the Trader Joe's in Clayton or Chesterfield? I looked in Chesterfield yesterday and couldn't find them.

Charlie,
I bought my first ones at the Trader Joe's off of Clackson in Chesterfield. The last batch I bought at the one by the Galleria. It's actually on the south side of highway 40 in one of those centers. LOL.
