Decorative Box to store charcoal - spousal approval will be sought
Ok - so I just moved and my former home had a garage door right next to my Eggin' spot - easy to keep charcoal dry and easy to access. New home has garage on opposite end of home - toting a bag of Wicked Good through the house everytime I need to egg is not acceptable.
I do have a nice covered screened porch (but still may see some wind blown rain) right next to my new Eggin' deck. Anybody know of a nice decorative (think pottery barn, anitque, etc.. - you know - something to make SWMBO happy) not plastic Rubbermaid box that I could store my charcoal in? Will be in the screen porch where my wife has decorated with a seating arrangement, etc.. so cant be an eyesore. Need be only large enough to hold one 22lb of charcoal.
THANKS

Maybe a wooden hope/blanket chest that your bag of lump (with a clip to prevent charcoal spilling out in the chest) can be hidden in but still maintain easy access?

Something like this perhaps?

I use an old armoire that the previous owner of our house left behind. Works great for all the egg gear.Dunedin, FL

Why not just keep it outside? I use a 27-gallon black plastic tote from HD with a locking lid that just slides under my table and stays completely dry in even the most driving of rainstorms.

I use a purpose-bought 40 gallon heavy duty trash can and dump the bags in there.I cook. I eat. I repeat. Thornville, Ohio

I'm good with the large plastic tote concept, also.
Very handy.

Joking... Our coffee table is a chest type table with storage while complimenting our living area. Craigslist... $100. Place a rubbermaid tub inside... Good to go.Green egg, dead animal and alcohol. The "Boro".. TN -
I use a plastic tub (the lid just cracked, so not too pleased. Cook's Illustrated recently reviewed this; it looks like a classy bag of charcoal:Charcoal Companion Charcoal Storage Bag
This waterproof vinyl bag uses a Velcro closure to protect charcoal from the elements, and it can fit up to one 20-pound bag of coals. A thick nylon strap on the side made it easier to hold the bag when pouring out coals. We left the bag outside for three months during which we used it intermittently, and our charcoal stayed completely dry.

+1 on the Kingsford Container. I have two and leave them out all year. Rain, snow etc and the lump is always dry

You don't even have to mean it, but you must appear to do so. It makes life simpler. Successful husbands throughout time have given academy award worthy performances to keep peace & tranquility in the home. So go get that frilly container for your lump if that's what it takes.Flint, Michigan -
I KEEP MY CHARCOAL IN A PLASTIC GARBAGE PAIL AND I COVER THE GARBAGE PAIL WITH A BIG GREEN EGG COVER (I HAD A EXTRA ONE FROM WHEN I DIDNT HAVE MY TABLE) SO AS FAR AS IM CONCERNED IT LOOKS AS IF I HAVE 2 EGGS2 Large Eggs and a Mini 2 Pit Bulls and a Pork shoulder or butt nearby and 100% SICILIANLong Island N.Y.
