new "Club Egg" vs. old "Club Egg"

I usually read messages from the new Club Egg site and post on the old. How many people are still using the old site? I know messages posted on the new site do not show up on the old. [p]Is there going to be a point in time the old site is dismantled and everyone is able to see everyone's post using the same site?

Personally, I have been having a hard time posting pics on the new site.

  • EggcredibleHulk,
I still use the old since it is (at this point) a bit easier to read. The new site is still a beta site and until the Webmaster gets some time to get it ready for the bigtime, there will continue to be the two sites. But, I think the goal is to eventually do away with the old site and move exclusively to the new.[p]TNW

  • EggcredibleHulk,
I prefer the format or the "old" one. To me, it is much easier to read and not as cluttered and confusing as the new one. When the new one is adopted, I will probably quit using the forum altogether.

Thanks, TNW....I have seen some eggors post on the new site and get little reponses to their questions because many do not even see the post.

Hate to see good info go unseen.
  • Didn't care for the new one for a while, but after getting used to's all I use.
  • EggcredibleHulk,
how do you know which one you are using?

EggcredibleHulk, I am unable to post on the new forum, even as a "guest". My password doesn't work with my handle. Maybe it's a Mac thing?

  • J Appledog,[p]Could be. I tried to set up a password but the system wouldn't take it. I'm guessing the issue may be that I'm on a MAC - and an old one at that. I'm waiting until the conversion before I try again, and hoping that all issues will be cleaned up by then.[p]DD

EggcredibleHulk,[p]Old site exclusively. The new site is readable in the wide layout, but then it looks like the old site. Otherwise on the new site the font size is waaaay too small for me and it doesn't change with 'change text size.'[p]mShark

We are still working on the getting the new forum ready for "prime time." Issues like font size, message ordering, and non-IE browser glitches ate being addressed; and, we're going to add options to hide any new "glitz" for those that find it distracting.
We also intend to add integrated polls, receipes, and, better picture posting abilities once the basics are out of the way.

    J Appledog,
We don't have any Macs for testing. Probably it's a Javascript issue, but can't be sure w/out more information.

  • WMK,[p]and pleezzze make it MAC friendly! Otherwise a bunch of us are toast![p]DD

I was o nly able to login and post also. Guest posting does not work on my mac
  • EggcredibleHulk,
I use the old site exclusively--seems much easier to me!!

  • EggcredibleHulk,
Old habits die hard...I'm still using the old one.[p]Mike

Just remember, if you ask a question on the new forum, you may not get a response since many eggors are using the old and will not be able to see your post.

I learned that the hard way. Thanks for everyone's input.
  • EggcredibleHulk,[p]I gather I have some issue with my Mozilla browser and I'm too lazy to open a separate IE browser just to post there. So, it's Old School for me - which should be no surprise. If it weren't for this site I'd be reduced to posting in semaphore.[p]RE
  • EggcredibleHulk,
I only use the old one. If I had to use the new one I do not think I would bother. I am just to lazy to learn about the new one.

  • DobieDad,
It isn't just the MAC that is the problem. I cannot get signed up on the new site either. After two tries, I gave up. If they close this site, I will probably quit reading the BGE site.

  • EggcredibleHulk, Old for me.

Alan P,[p]When the new site came out, I found it would not accept my old user name becaue it had spaces in the name. My previous user name was the "Boston Butt Sox".
That is why I changed and have to post my new name without any spaces. Bummer.[p]I do like a couple of new features such as when you make a post, it will alert you via email if someone responds to a question. There are a couple of other features I like but am going to stick with the old site for now....

I use both old and new, and WMK has assured everyone that he is working on the glitches as they currently exist as well as anticipated ones. The accessability problems/font sizes etc; are being corrected, but he has been hampered by the Eggtoberfest registrations.
Everyone needs to slo down and take a deep breath. I have a feeling that the new forum(once completed) will be good, and WMK will work on it until he gets what we need. I love the old forum, but it needed updating, and he is trying to do so.
