Rubbed with bad Byron's. gonna let that sit over night. Put some John Henry's butt rub on in the morning about an hour before it goes on. Trying something I think @eggcelsior said and staging rubs.

Got butt, beans, tater salad, and for apps gonna make green bean bundles.

Might ditch the Italian drsg injection depending on how the morning goes.


I think it's pretty funny that a lot of us our cooking our wives and mothers and baby mommas butt for Mother's Day.

    @MCN way to go. Cooking for the gang on Mother's Day. Should be a eggcellent meal. I just put a 10 pound butt on my large for the night. Same meal, same egg size?? Miles apart!! Have a great day tomorrow.

    I'm put my butt on the small and do everything else on the large. I'm eggcited!! Getting up early ad lifting the small. I'm do a little hot maybe 275ish it's and 8 lb

    All the best, doing mine the opposite way, but on the large, baked beans on the small. Should be a good day. What is the longest time you have done a low and slow on your small. I was worried that a 10 pound on the small would need a refill of lump some where mid stream of the cook. Would appreciate any input.

    I've done 6 hours on my small. This will be testing the thing out. But, the large is right there should problems arise

    That's funny that both of us are reconsidering the injection.  I just got home from celebrating Mother's day with my Mom and either I put my injector somewhere strange after a few beverages or my wife has relocated it.  She isn't home to help me look so I might just go standard mustard and rub.  Going to get up relatively early for a non-working day and hopefully have the butt on by 7 a.m. with a little pecan and a little apple wood.
    I raise my kids, cook and golf.  When work gets in the way I'm pissed, I'm pissed off 48 weeks a year.
    Inbetween Iowa and Colorado, not close to anything remotely entertaining outside of football season.

    Yea I'm get up about the same time then. Well, I've got my injector sitting out. Just don't know if its worth the trouble.

    I'm actually in a freeze warning tonight  so I just don't feel like dealing with starting the cook tonight.  Figure get a good nights sleep and if I have to semi turbo it at some time tomorrow so be it. Really stinks because I hate putting blankets over the garden in May.

    I got worried about the small running low so I putt the but on the large. Up and running now. Had a change of lunch plans, my wife's Grandmaw is coming into town so I will e away from the egg for about 7 hours.

    I did a 10 pound butt on my small and only had to stir the coals once. They were burning down one side toward the end. I didn't have to add any more lump. I don't blame you switching it to the large since you won't be around to keep an eye on things. Good luck

    Yea, I'd try it if I was gonna be home. I did 6 hours once and it was done, not out of lump. Just needed stiring and some help. I though I was gonna be home around 12 but now looking at 2-3 so just couldn't chance it.

    The suspense is killing me!! Can't wait to get home. My family just went for Mother's Day lunch, I got called in. So in at work now. The wife can handle the egg if she beats me home.
