Awesome. Raising the steaks is the best. That's caveman stuff. Looks like a 2" cut maybe? You gonna carve it off the bone and serve family style?
-
Wife saw me take a tape measure to the steak and said, "You're measuring your meat again." Yep. It's an 1 1/4". Porterhouse was on sale today, $10/#.I like my butt rubbed and my pork pulled.

@500-you should have gone with the larger dimensionLouisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period.

Oh 500, round these parts a steak isn't considered large unless it is at least 2 1/2 inches. It does look awesome, hope the cook goes/went well.
I raise my kids, cook and golf. When work gets in the way I'm pissed, I'm pissed off 48 weeks a year.Inbetween Iowa and Colorado, not close to anything remotely entertaining outside of football season. -
True. I exaggerated about the size of my meat. Again.

those were Choice from Whole Foods. Special occasion ha. Normally I just get from local grocery store. The ones you have look great and I promise better than the chicken I had for dinner.Boom -
@500 what are you using to light? Looks way more intense than the MAP torch I use.Boom

Looks like a Texas match, lol

That's a weed burner, or a big @$$ lighter. The steak was pretty good. 8 minutes on direct at 650*. Rest for 5-10 minutes. It's tough getting both the filet side and the strip side to get to 125* at the same time. The filet was over by 10* I think. Overall, it was good, but not my best effort. And the InZINerator vino matched very well with it. Here are the money shots. A little shaky on the iPhone camera shots. Hard to get a good picture.I like my butt rubbed and my pork pulled.

Nice Big _ss Steak! I love your pig butts line!Flint, Michigan

Yeah, the filet side can cook fast. I try to get the sirloin side over the hotter coals. Looks good! We at out tonight - biked around town and ate an insane French dinner at Cafe Degas in Mid City. Pate board, seared brussel sprout Gorgonzola salad, pan fried monk fish wrapped in prosciutto over cous cous.

Appreciate the comments and tips. Did the bacon wrapped cheese stuffed Knockwurst tonight, but they were very pic worthy. I pushed them a little and the bacon and knock charred up some. No leftovers though, so I did something right.I like my butt rubbed and my pork pulled.
