How quick until the gasket falls off???

I bought my first BGE on July 3rd.  I made sure not to hat it to high temps in the beginning as directed in the instructions.  But last night after going 10+ hours of 225 - 250 degrees, it fell off on the right side of the egg.  I assume this is not normal.  Is this covered by the warranty?  Please advise...

Thanks!

It's very normal. All gaskets fail at some point. Mine failed on my second cook. I never replaced it and have no issues without it.
Be careful, man! I've got a beverage here.

WRT gasket or commando-at the end of the day it depends on the fit between your dome and base.  Some have a great match (see Travis above) while others of us aren't so lucky and the gasket serves a role in air-flow control and being able to snuff the fire at the end of the cook.  You may want to strip the remnants of your gasket and then give it the "dollar bill" test.  If you have resistance all the way around w/o the gasket-you are well positioned to run commando.  Worth a shot-no gasket, no worries!

Mine pulled loose the first cook. I just glued it back and it lasted 2-3 months. Still don't have a gasket. Not sure it's worth the trouble to replace it. We have done a couple of low and slow cooks and though we lost a little smoke it did not seem to bother the temperature control.
