Need help with my wife's Big Butt

The wife brought home an 18 pound butt this afternoon. 18 pounds! Figuring 1.5 to 2 hours per pound, 27 to 36 hours to cook this thing? What if I bump the temp to 300...350? Haven't done an overnighter yet...looks like I will now.

Is it cryovac'd? It might be 2 pieces wrapped in one. Lol good title.

+1 with title-hope she doesn't check this out or who knows if you will ever need to worry about the cook!Louisville; Rolling smoke in the neighbourhood. # 38 for the win. Life is too short for light/lite beer! Seems I'm livin in a transitional period. -
lol great title. It might even been a boneless shoulder. Costco has boneless butts that size so just a guess.Just a hack that makes some $hitty BBQ....

Wowzers! Even if it's not two couldn't you just cut it in half somehow._______________________________________________XLBGE

Yes likely two in one pack. You can probably tell your wife her butt isn't as big as it looks. :-OXL, Large, Small, Mini Eggs, Shirley Fabrication 24x36 Patio, Humphrey's Weekender, Karubecue C-60, MAK 1-Star General, Hasty Bake Gourmet, Santa Maria Grill, Webers: 14" WSM, 22.5" OTG, 22.5" Kettle Premium, WGA Charcoal, Summit S-620 NG

My butcher couldn't get much over 13 lbs so I agee, two maybe in one pack. I normally cook 8-10 lb butts. I feel doing the larger ones don't get as much flavor.
