Lump Storage

My father-in-law got me a Kingsford charcoal storage tub. It looks
pretty cool, claims it stays sealed and is waterproof. My thought was to
put the lump in there after taking out all of the junk. Does anyone
else use anything like this or similar? Where do you store your lump?

I just leave mine in the bag and store it either on the garage floor or in a plastic cabinet. I sort it a somewhat as I load up the BGE. Sounds like you got something specific for lump...

I've got two and they work great. Leave them outside all winter, no moisture problems at all. Very handy - and cheap!

I also have 2, one for Grove lump, and one for weekend Warrior. Works great. Easy to poor the lump in.

Mine goes in a simple $5 20 gallon covered bin. Works great and slides under my table out of the way until it's needed.

I have a small lift top enclosed chair. The box under it holds a 20 pound bag of lump and 1-2 bags of large chunk hardwood for smoking. Raise the chair part and all is under the seat and sealed. Got it at Home Depot. It is grey in color.

I use this the front little flap comes up or the whole top comes off. Holds about 50 pounds of lump.

I'd love one of those boxes Choke, but they're so dang expensive - plus moisture and mold are a problem here in the Pac NW.

My lump lives in the bag, right inside the door of the garage. My 'use every time' accessories (gloves, grill brushes, grill lifter, long lighter, lighter cubes, ash tools and tongs, etc...) live in a small tub that I haul out to the deck when I get ready to grill. Other accessories live in the storage room off the garage and are hauled out at need.

i have two of the kingsford bins and was able to get a full bag of WGWW lump into it with a little arranging of a few top pieces

I use a trash can..I am not sure on gallon size.. but it is big enough to hold a 40lb bag.

I store an extra whole bag or two in the garage, I then dump one bag into a big storage bin with lid that I got from Wal-Mart. Nothing fancy, but lets me sort through the lump if needed. I also store my wood chips and foil drip pans in the same box.

How do all of you get the charcoal from whatever container to the Egg? I assume some sort of really big scoop. But, doesn't the friction of every time you scoop in and grab some cause micro pieces and dust to come off - i.e. somewhat breaking up some of the larger lumps and increasing the amt of dust/useless pieces?
