Ash Color Question
So, I've been using different lumps in the last couple of weeks. Started with BGE brand, then went on to an 8lber of Cowboy, then tried Wicked Good Weekend Warrior, then Lazarri's mesquite.
Not that it matters, but I think my favorite is the Weekend Warrior (or the Lazarri...love the way the burning mesquite smelled, but my wife said her sausage tasted like Vic's Vapo-rub - not sure what that's about) and my least favorite was the Cowboy - all that dust gave my turkey a harsh taste. But, no matter...
The Weekend Warrior I used for a couple of hours Sunday to help season a wok, then I used it to cook a couple of ribs. The ash (smoke, I guess) turns the platesetter and the inside of the egg a whitish blue color, rather than black. Same color coated the underside of my wok and also settled into the daisy wheel. Has anyone else noticed this? It's really strange...

Different. But you won't notice free a few more cooks an the egg is covered in delicious seasoning of meat by- products crisped to the level of awesomeness.

I have also noticed that the bottom of my pizza stone has a light colored residue after a WG cook. I prefer it to the darker soot though. Don't know the cause, maybe the type of trees used or the process used to create the charcoal.Nerk Ahia LBGE
