Storing a BGE Pizza Stone

Is it ok to leave the BGE pizza stone out in the elemens (northern California)? Should I cover it? I can always place it inside the Egg after I'm done with it but I may not always remember. For some reason, I fear that it will absorb moisture.

Proper storage tips would be appreciated.
