Hello...just got the egg on Saturday, and am spending my time reading the forums learning what I can.
What I need help with is, when I bought my BGE, it was already assembled, but I was wondering if my top temp gauge is assembled correctly? When I open the lid the large damper and the daisy wheel do not stay in place. It stays on top...it does not fall off or anything, but it does slide so that the settings on the gauges move each time I open the lid. I tried to tighten the screws as much as possible, but it is still happening? Is this normal, or do I need to take the top back to get one that will stay in place.
There is no nut on the bottom of the screws that help me tighten them. Should there be a nut on the bottom to help with tightness. I was not provided the assembly paperwork so I can not check myself. I am going back this weekend to get all the correct paperwork, but until then, I would love any help you can provide.
Much Thanks.
Mike D.

Easy fix, you just rotate the daisy wheel so the screw is towards the front of the egg. That way when you open the dome and the setting never moves.
-
Thanks Crimson....Did that and it stops the large damper, but the daisy just seems loose to me? Are there supposed to be nuts on the 2 screws to help tighten and keep in place?
Thanks again. What a great resource this forum is. -

Once it gets gunked up it will be much harder to spin. :P
-
Thanks....been reading on the thousands of other threads about the same topics. Hoping to "gunk it up" soon enough!

In the pic's align the screws with the dome handle.
-
2fat, isn't that the rodent trapping position?
-
Keep the main screw of the Metal Top to the front of the Egg and when you open the lid it will stay. The screws are put in
by the Manufacture. XLarge, Large, Medium are all the same size. They do not fit tight. Happy Grilling:) -
Yes, it is Jack. That trap be for you!
-
That's a hawbil development, 2fat!! Hawbil!!
-
awe shoot never herd of hawbil development. you got me on that one. :ermm:
-
Hawbil......as in horrible!! Regarding me as a rodent!!
My feelings are hurt..... -
Sorry Jack. Didn't mean to hurt your feelings.
-
Just tear me up!! I'll get over it, 2fat.
-
If it makes you feel better I'll have this for supper cold. :P :woohoo:
-
2fat.....you did all that on the Egg??!!??
-
No it was a Christmas gift from our next door neighbor. Kind of a gag gift. I never opened the can yet. I'm waiting for the right company to come over for supper.
Hopefully my next door neighbor. :woohoo: -
That's some racy lookin vittles, 2fat. I know you're big on trappin those pets, but your neighbor might lik'em. Me? I'll stick with butts and brisket.
-
Oh wow! A couple slices of toast, then pour out the heated up possum on the toast with a generous sprinkle of coarse black pepper and a bunck of Louisana Hot Sauce. Now, that's breakfast!!
 :blink:John in the Willamette Valley of Oregon -
Not for me!!
-
Jack, There are folks in this area who eat possum and ground hog but, I'm like you, not for me.
-
Oh, I know, 2fat...........got some of'em down here....altho we have no ground hog. But, we got some strange critters down here, too. And, in this neck of the woods, there is a recipe for every one of'em. The running joke here is that the local zoo has a recipe posted under the name of every animal caged therein. I will have to tell you about the LSU game we went to when the car next next to us began cooking a louisiana wild game stew. I thought I WAS in a zoo!!
