    20 people = approx 35 sandwiches
4 or 5 sandwiches per pound of finished product
You'll need about 7 pounds of finished product
You end up with about 60 of what you started with
I usually find that butts are packaged in two if you buy a two pack you'll definitely be covered!

    Two pack is about 15 pounds x .6 = 9lbs

I know some folks have much simpler rules but I can't remember them. Have a great weekend!
  • I've always had 1/2 lbs per person in my head when I go shopping and end up getting closer to 3/4 per. It's so good that everyone eats a lot of it and there's never anything wrong with having leftovers.

For the 4th of any month it always takes more...

take the number of mouth and divide by 2.4.

Use a simple formula, something easy to remember.

    20 ÷ 2.4 = 8.3#. 2 - 5# butts will do you just fine.

    More sides = less meat.

I used 2 @ 7.4 lbs for about 19 people. We ended up with about 1-2 pounds left over. Here is one of them pulled.
