As an added bonus, the day before Labor Day is National Bacon Day and we don’t know about you, but we like putting bacon on anything and everything, so we’ll definitely be celebrating that. This recipe was sent out in a newsletter by Bill at Texas BBQ Rub the other day. Sounds awesome and with the 4th quickly approaching, I thought I'd post it here:

Smoked Beans

1 - 15 oz can of pork and beans
1 - 15 oz can of ranch style beans
½ pound of cooked bacon
½ cup of crushed pineapple
¼ cup of Texas BBQ Rub (or any rub you may have on hand)
2 jalapenos seeded and chopped
½ of a medium onion chopped
½ of a bell pepper chopped
1 tablespoon of fresh diced garlic
½ cup of your favorite BBQ sauce
1/8 cup of worchestershire sauce
½ cup of brown sugar

Mix all ingredients in a pan and place this on the BGE, indirect. Leave it uncovered on the pit for about 2 hours at whatever temp you are currently smoking your current meat, preferably 250.
