First of thank you Max for sharing this over on FB. I have been thinking about it ever since you posted it. looked wonderful and it is!
the raws, ground beef and pork, onions, scallions, garlic, corn, green beans, cumin, curry, and glaze of ketchup, balsamic and turbinado sugar and left over mashed potatoes from the other night.
sweat the onions and scallions and garlic, add the pork and beef. stir in seasoning.
add vegis and glaze. Max used peas and carrots, but we have always done corn and beans
I was watched very carefully to make sure I did not mess it up! the little one is Dixie (the BOSS) and the one on the hammock is Dexter
golden brown and toasty!
if you are into scoop food this is a must do. thank you Max! also I got batteries for my camera.. can you tell ha ha no cell phone shots

That looks really good Julie, How did you use the balsamic and the turbinado.
-
thanks Michael tasted good tonight.
-
hey Tim the balsamic, sugar and ketchup was mixed together and poured over the meat and vegis before the taters. this was really good. thought it would be a weird mix of flavors but I will do it this way from now on!

Pretty sad we are cooking one pot comfort food the mid of June :(

Very nice indeed wish I were eating that for dinner. Love this comfort food. There would be no leftovers if I were close to that pot.
It is also nice to add a can of diced tomatoes or better, fresh tomatoes.

Looks great Julie cept the corn and beans. Never liked me vegs mixed. Even chickens pot pie don't care for vegs in it!! Wife makes shepherds pie I have been wanting to try on the Egg myself with dark beer.
-
Looks mighty fine!! 8 - ),,, Where was the recipe posted?
-
really glad you enjoyed julie! we sure did. ...
-
My sister did not like her vegis mixed either. when mom would make it there was beans on one side and corn on the other... she would take a scoop of each and mix on her plate..... she is still as weird..
-
Max I am sure I did not follow to the letter.. maybe you can post the recipe for the ones that have asked? I kind of just read your post on FB and winged it LOL
-
Blair, Dixie keeps a close eye but Dexter is not much good. LOL we call him Dixie's boy toy or as Neil says the lights are on but no one is home but he is the sweetest dog ever.
-
Gramps there was barely enough for me for lunch today LOL just enough to make me want more I think.
-
That looks amazing, Julie. I've always wanted to try a shepherd's pie on the egg. What temp did you cook it at and for how long?
And technically, shepherd's pie uses lamb, you made a cottage pie (beef).Rowlett, Texas

LOL yes it is cottage pie, but no one hardly knows what that it LOL I just lit the egg and had the bottom open. and was cooking direct up to the point of browning the potatoes. I changed to indirect at that point. I am kind of bad as I really do not pay to much attention to the temps unless baking or pizza or low and slow. I just light and cook.. for this i was browning the meat and stuff so i was around 400 or so? the egg was open pretty much the whole time stirring and adding stuff

Good looking meal...last time I tried making more of a true Shepherds Pie the mashed potaotes absorbed a lot of the gravey and more than doubled in size. Looks like a keeper.LBGE Katy (Houston) TX
