Can someone help me out here? I know that I've seen a picture of someone cooking a whole hog in an Egg. Anybody have an idea of how large a pig you could get in a Large BGE?

Why do you want to do a whole pig? You can get more meat by loading the large up with butts, and it will be a whole lot easier.

I think this is the link to see one.

Thanks guys!! We just wanted to try something different this summer and we've never done a whole hog. Now I know we've got to give it a try.

I did not get a great look inside that egg in Atlanta, but was told they removed the fire ring to add additional height to fit the pig in. They also said, the back was cut to allow it to hunch over like that. It was cooked off site and finished at the fest. That pig was not done start to finish at BGE

War Dam Eggle...Great Handle! Only wish I would have thought of it first! You should save the whole hog for the Arkansas game! War Damn Eagle!

Thanks Eddie. I'm not looking forward to that game this season. The piggies are gonna be tough in Fayetteville this year.

Never tried it on the egg, but this is how my family usually cooks it:
