Opened the small with a bit too much enthusiasm and the brand new daisy wheel flew off
Landed on the concrete with a broken "ear" :pinch: (where the handle wire fits)
Can this be repaired with JB Weld?

Sorry about that. On ceramic pieces JB works wonders, Never have done metal, should work. Good welding!
-
Thanks --shouldn't hurt anything
-
it should, just try to clean it as best you can. the break will be clean, but perhaps wire brush anywhere the jbweld is going to be applied. it's promoted for use on metal, so there shouldn't be an issue.ed egli avea del cul fatto trombetta -Dante

Yep. I did the exact same thing you did, and it broke in the same place. I put JB Weld on it, and it's worked ever since. That was about 6 months ago.__________________________________________Dripping Springs, Texas.Just west of Austintatious

Good to know others share my enthusiasm!
You coming to Athens or are you still in the witness protection program? -
I've used JB weld to repair a broken intake manifold on my Murader GT dune buggy (1600 VW engine). I've also used JB weld to repair a water jacket on the block of an 87 Porsche 944 Turbo. We nicked the jacket chamber when going to larger studs. I've also used JB weld to help fix a bumper upright on a 69 MGC GT.
All applications held up well for many years.
Go for it! -

Hot cars and hot EGGs!!
Hope I can find a smaller quantity than you probably have on hand -
Kari, How in the world could you do that... O wait I know.
Hee Hee
FYI, JB WELD was developed to repair medal parts that got broken, it will work great on your top. A reminder there is 2 types of JB one is the quick set the other takes longer, get the longer setting stuff. Why you say! Cause the longer setting time grade is highter temperture by about 300 degrees.
See you Thursday in the camp ground maybe.

Only if I think my leprosy might be in remission. Can't wait to give you a big hug and kiss. I hope my lips don't fall off.__________________________________________Dripping Springs, Texas.Just west of Austintatious -
I think you'll be fine. My brother and I have restored a few old Land Rovers in years past and have had JB help out numerous times when the part couldn't be found, even fixed several radiators that lasted years. Good luck. Randy

Thanks for the additional info, you sneaky guy!
Will see you Thursday  -
I knew that picture would pop us soon
Had lunch with Russ Friday in Salado.Salado TX & 30A FL: Egg Family: 3 Large and a very well used Mini, added a Mini Max when they came out (I'm good for now). Plus a couple Pit Boss Pellet Smokers. -
Tell him thanks again, please!
Is he coming to Athens?
See ya soon, too? -
JB Weld should work fine. Also, there is a product called Liquid Steel which would probably work also.
The temperatures out the dome won't be high enough to surpass the JB Weld specifications.
Use some acetone (fingernail remover) to clean the surfaces.

"even fixed several radiators that lasted years."
Wish I would have thought of that $650 ago.
