Saturday morning I took my friend Ron to Steph's (Big Brother Smoke) so he could get some Spice. Steph makes some wonderful Spices and sells some other great brands as well. http://www.simplymarvelousbbq.com/store
Rubbed them with Plowboys Yardbird Rub that I bought at Steph's
Soaked some cherry wood chips for 2-hrs. for smoke Egg @ 275* on a raised grid indirect
After 1-hr. I put them on there backs for another hr. or until they reached 170* internal
Pulled @ 170* internal 1-hr. 45-min.
Served with roasted garlic mashed potatoes and green salad. The Plowboys Rub added a wonderful flavor and the cherry wood smoke was just right.
Thanks for looking

Looks really good, sure wish we could smell/taste those.
Do you have a plate setter or pizza stone in there as well as a drip pan?

Looks good Ross, very nice color on those thighs.
I was one of the taste testers when Todd was designing Yardbird, it's a good rub for a variety of uses. I even like it on baked winter squash. I noticed after Todd won The American Royal in 2009 the new motto for Yardbird was "Created for chicken, made for pork".Happy Trails~thirdeye~Barbecue is not rocket surgery -
Love those thighs every time, they win out if I'm givin a choice of chicken parts. I see you smoke'em high in the dome, nice setup with raised grid. I got cherry wood that I'll be using for baby backs this afternoon, looks like they gave a nice color to the thighs. It's fun to change the smoking woods around and cherry wood it will be the smoke of the day.(usually do hickory with ribs)
I see you enjoy red wine. :P Keep that glass full! Hey Ross.....I'll be right over and we can sand down your table top and then I'll oil it. We will not sand the top down to completely remove the 'history' of the woods surface (spilled wine, knife throwing marks, bullet holes, fires) but only to freshin it up. The oil will help preserve the wood and aid in developing a rich antique patina.
Sorry, got carried away. Have a great day Ross! -
Licking the screen didn't work :( ...really looks good. Thanks for the link.Large, small and mini now Egging in Rowlett Tx

Thanks Clay, I like Cherry wood, and Applewood and also Manzanita for smoking. The wine glass always close and as far as the top goes I going to make another one and use spar varnish on it.It sounds like you know your way around the wood pile.
