Ther was some discussion on here a couple of days ago about this meat sale and the meat grade, so I just had to give it a try.

I am baching right now as my bride is visiting with grandkids, so I got the smallest one in the case :)

I put some DP Pinapple Head on the corn, very good. :P
I have plenty left over for another great meal.

This was definetly a good cut of meat, on sale for about 1/2 normal price. They are still on until Wednesday, so I think I will get another for the freezer! :cheer:
Thanks for loking and have a great weekend :)

  • Looks like a great meal. DP Pineapple Head was thee 1 rub we didn't have but picked up in FL. Will have to try it on corn.

Looks awesome! Nice work with the roast. And a terrific price for sure. I wanted to pop into the Publix on Eau Gallie just to check out the store(and prices)but not enough time and it was late coming back from Squid Lips. Funny how I like to visit a market to assess a butcher shop and oogle the meat  , must be addiction. :silly:
    Have a great Easter Capt.Frank!
  • That looks outstanding!! We have a local grocery that is fairly reasonable on rib roast.......$5.99/lb. for Choice. Occasionally on sale for $4.99/lb. And it's hard to beat a rib roast on the egg. Happy Easter!!
  • Clay, I think that affliction befalls all eggers, sooner or later!!

Capt. Frank, I went to Publix and got mine. It's a two bone. If I understand it correctly they will sell for $6.99 a pound after Wednesday for a time. Yours looks great. :P

Nice lookin' cook! 8 - ),, Here is a visual on how to select the best cut of prime rib. The one on the left (2nd cut) is from the 6-8 front end (closest to the shoulder). On the right is the 1st cut (ribs 9-12) and is closest to the loin. The muscle/fat structure is the key and the latter will be the most tender & succulen. Pix deleted.

Thanks all, this was a really good piece of meat and an easy cook.
Clay, I think you will find that Publix is an above average supermarket chain, they seem to do a pretty good job with all of their products and I am sure the one in Eau Gallie is very upscale, after all, that is where Richard lives
Rascal, that is a very helpful picture, thanks for posting.

Really nice cook. I was so glad when the first Publix came to town. We now have three.Do you use the cast iron grates all the time? Thanks Randy

Thanks Randy, I use the CI a lot of the time, especially with direct cooks, but not all the time.
In case you were wondering these are the ones from :) They are a nice product, I have the griddle insert which adds to their versitility.
