Does anyone know of a good, solid wiggle rod that can bought or easily made? Coat hangers just dont really cut it for me.

I agree with Hoss! i purchased an wiggle rod and a couple thirdhands from wayne "Thirdeye" and couldn't be more happy with them. The thirdhand i believe is one of my most used eggcessories.
Thanks again Wayne,

If you have a bench vise and are handy with tools you can make one very easily. All that is needed is a length of small diameter rod. Can be found in any big box home repair store. Buy a 24 or 36" long rod about 1/8 to 3/16" dia. and start bending the handle. Once you get that finished, bend a 3" el on the opposite end. Very simple to do. Heck I built mine out of a handle from an old bucket. Took me longer to straighten out the handle than it would have if had purchased a straight rod in the first place.

The crossbars from the Adjustable Rig work great.

Do you have the BGE ash tool? I use the hook at the handle end of it as my wiggle rod. The hook fits nicely through the holes in the fire grate, and the tool is long enough to give lots of reach through the bottom vent.

x2, well worth the money for the effort and money you would expend to make something that probably wouldn't be as nice. And unless you get stainless stock (like Wayne's), you'll have another rusty bar hanging there. Might rust even if you do get your own stainless. -
Quality accessories from Thirdeye.
This link will drop you in the middle of the site. When you get time visit the front page and enjoy what is offered. Wiggle Rods are on the left side of this page. Thirdeye Tools
I enjoy and value my Thirdeye Tools.
If you must use a hanger open the hanger up then bend in half, twist it as that will create more strength than two wires side by side, then bend into the wiggle rod.

I made mine from an old Japanese beetle trap hanger. Took about five minutes using a vise and a hack saw to cut to length. Been using for years.
