Being as I often give Egged food to others, how many lbs. of meat (for a meatloaf) do you think for a family of 5, 2 adults 2 teenage boys and one teen girl???
I'm thinking 3 or 4 but what do I know???
Thanks

3 lbs, any leftovers use for sandwhiches

Thanks,
It was just a guess on my part but I figured better a little too much then to be short.

You could cook 2 of these and eat the leftovers.

You said two teenaged boys. I would do a ten pounder.

:woohoo:
They are going to end up skinny like the cook.
It's sure a possibility though. I've made ABT's for them not knowing how many and Mom told the only 1 each. Bet that didn't go over big as they loved them. :cheer:

Thanks Richard,
Looks great, being as I'm sure they would reheat it do you know if when slicing, will it hold together??? While I don't mind too much if my meatloaf will not hold together some do.
Thanks,
Bordello
Still thinking about the legs in the chicken.

two adults, plus two teenagers and another.... i'd go at least 4 pounds, probably five, or two three pounders at the same time. i know we like leftovers at my house, especially meatloaf.
-
Hmmmm???
I'll maybe do 4 so I allow for shinkage.
Thanks for the input, like I mentioned, better too much then too little.

would love to see your final recipe. i'm always looking for ideas for meatloaf!

Not quite sure yet but will post whatever I end up doing along with a couple of pictures. I don't ever know till I start one so and sometimes take few things from one suggestion and maybe something else from another.

I do a two pound loaf for three (two pretty big eaters)....With a bit of left-over, but not much .
Two teenaged boys may tip that  . I would go with four pounds or maybe more. More is better than not enough ! -
I always do 3 pounds. We're a family of 3 as well, but ours are all boys. (22, 21, and 19 right now.) My boys are light eaters, so with 3 pounds we sometimes have leftovers. Sometimes not. Just depends.
